Jackson Georgari was only ten years old, and he had a habit that deeply worried his family. He was a frequent sleepwalker. On Thursday afternoon, that nighttime habit turned into an absolute nightmare when search teams found his body in a neighborhood pond.
The heartbreaking scene unfolded near Briarcliff Village, which is a quiet residential area in the Northland region of Kansas City, Missouri. Local police officers rushed out to the neighborhood around noon after someone spotted a child in the water. First responders pulled the young boy out right away, but it was already too late.

Jackson’s family told investigators that the little boy must have wandered away from his home in the middle of the night. He left his house on Northwest Vivion Road sometime around midnight while completely asleep. The pond where searchers discovered him is located about a mile away from his front door.
This was not the first time Jackson had gone on a dangerous walk in his sleep. His family had just recently moved to Missouri all the way from San Diego, California. Back in California, he once walked right out onto a busy street before a random stranger found him and called 911.
After moving to the Kansas City area, Jackson did it again. That second time, he walked all the way to his new school in his sleep because it was one of the only places he actually recognized in the new town. His sisters believe he always followed the exact paths he knew from his daily school bus rides.
Tragically, those familiar bus routes often pass right by thick woods, small streams, and deep neighborhood ponds. To make things even tougher, Jackson’s family shared that the young boy never learned how to swim. He stood absolutely no chance once he stepped into the deep water.
Local detectives checked the entire scene and found no obvious signs of foul play or a struggle. The Kansas City Police Department is keeping the case open as an active death investigation while they wait for the medical examiner’s report. For now, a neighborhood is left mourning a little boy who simply went to sleep and never woke up.
