Jordan Tyler Gray was a regular thirty-year-old guy from London, Kentucky. He wanted to enjoy a nice evening outdoors on Thursday. He went down to Laurel Lake to spend some time by the water. It was a warm day, and the lake seemed like the perfect place to cool off.

Jordan decided to try and swim across a cove at the reservoir. The area near Cox Road is always full of people swimming and boating. Onlookers watched from the shore as he hopped into the water. He started kicking out toward the other side of the cove.

The swim started out just fine as he moved away from the bank. But things took a terrible turn once he got out into the deeper water. Jordan suddenly began to struggle out in the middle of the cove. He could not keep his momentum going anymore.

People on the shore noticed that he was having a really hard time. They watched him fight to stay above the surface for a few moments. Then, Jordan slipped completely under the water. The witnesses stared at the ripples, waiting for him to pop back up.

He never came back up to the surface. Nearby witnesses quickly called for help as panic set in. Local rescue teams and wildlife crews rushed over to Cox Road. They knew they had to act fast to find the missing swimmer.

The emergency crews brought out an underwater drone to help search the deep lake. The drone operators steered the camera through the dark water. After searching for a little while, the drone located Jordan’s body on the bottom. Crews pulled him out of the lake around 7:20 p.m.

First responders pronounced Jordan dead right there at the lakeside. It was a heartbreaking end to a simple evening swim. Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what went wrong. No one else was hurt or in danger during the tragic incident.
