Griffin, Georgia, is still processing the horror of a deadly shooting that took the life of a 31-year-old father of seven. The incident occurred at Raymond Head Park on Anne Street, where police, fire, and emergency responders arrived shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, which sent fear through the neighborhood.
Officers found Malcolm Freeling wounded and rushed him to the hospital, but he didn’t survive. The circumstances of the shooting are still unknown, and no one has been charged yet. Officials are investigating, but for now, the details are sparse and frustratingly unclear.

Freeling’s wife, Jasmine, is devastated and insists her husband had nothing to do with the violence. “He was a loving father,” she said. “Everyone who met him liked him.” She said he was a quiet guy who never caused trouble. “He worked hard, stayed out of drama, and cared about his family more than anything else.”
She remembers him becoming a dad at 16 and spending the rest of his life raising his kids. “He was the best father and husband he could be,” she said. He worked six days a week at a local distribution center in Jackson, always putting his family first. “He didn’t have time for nonsense,” she said. “Just a regular guy doing what he had to do.”
His death has left a deep scar on the family. They’re all struggling to cope with the loss. “It’s just senseless,” she said. “He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” The community is mourning, and the search for answers continues.
The investigation is still active, and anyone with information is urged to contact Investigator Berry. For now, the only thing that’s clear is that a good man is gone, and the pain won’t go away anytime soon.
