A normal morning drive turned into a complete nightmare on Interstate 59. A young family from Liberty, Mississippi, was traveling through Alabama when the unthinkable happened. Their lives changed forever in a single split second.
Dquarious Marqua Butler was a proud twenty-nine-year-old father. His loving wife, Dominque Mariona Butler, was thirty-two. They had a beautiful five-year-old daughter named Nailani Butler. This tight-knit family shared a deep bond that everyone in their hometown noticed.
The tragedy struck early on a Tuesday morning around 7:15 a.m. The family was driving north through a busy highway construction zone. This specific stretch of Interstate 59 in Trussville is known for being tricky.
Dquarious was operating a large commercial tractor-trailer at the time. Suddenly, his big rig crashed violently into another tractor-trailer. The force of the impact crushed the vehicle completely. It left a scene of total devastation on the road.
Emergency crews rushed to the highway as fast as they could. Firefighters and state troopers worked hard to pull the family out. Sadly, Dquarious and little Nailani died right there at the scene. Paramedics rushed Dominque to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, but she passed away soon after.
Three other young children were also riding inside the truck cab. They are immediate family members and managed to survive the horrific wreck. First responders took them straight to Children’s of Alabama for urgent medical care. Officials have not released their current conditions yet.
Back home in Mississippi, the entire town of Liberty is completely heartbroken. Neighbors are coming together to comfort the relatives left behind. They want to make sure the memory of this beautiful family never fades away.
